Introduction

1 out of 6 people in the EU have a disability that ranges from mild to severe; 80 million people are often prevented from participating fully in society and economy because of environmental and attitudinal barriers; the access to an inclusive, quality education remains elusive for many; the employment rate of people with disabilities remains significantly lower than people without disabilities; and due to the above-mentioned, and other, persons with disabilities are more likely to be at risk of poverty or social exclusion.
