Harmony and Inclusion

“Harmony and Inclusion”
In August, the European Artistic Swimming Championships were held in Rome, where Italian athletes triumphed and won 67 medals.
At the Gala Event, the closing party of the competition, Giorgio Minisini and Arianna Sacripante performed.
Giorgio is a two-time world champion and four-time European champion in synchronised swimming. Arianna is an artistic swimmer with Down syndrome, who won the gold medal at the Trisome Games in 2016.
Their beautiful performance had the theme of equality, rights, acceptance and togetherness.
Arianna and Giorgio met several years ago thanks to the Filippide Project, a National Association that since 2016 has opened a synchronised swimming academy for athletes with Down syndrome, and the Italian Swimming Federation, which involved Giorgio.
“I wanted to draw attention to a more inclusive world, which thinks more about the weak”, said Giorgio.
The beauty of Giorgio Minisini and Arianna Sacripante’s synchronized swimming performance is not just harmony, synchrony, balance, strength. It is the beauty of those who want to break down walls and barriers, to build bridges and extend hands.

Unfortunately there are currently no official competitions in which athletes with disabilities and athletes without disabilities can compete together.
Now we share Arianna and Giorgio’s dream of being able to compete together even in official competitions. Because if sport is inclusion, certain barriers (bureaucratic? mental?) must necessarily be demolished.
